Dear CRD Families and Students,

This week I invite all of us to reflect on the meaning of kindness.  Although kindness is defined as the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate it truly means so much more.

At CRD, kindness is also modeled on a daily basis through our core beliefs.

We are United in Faith.  We believe that our fates are bound together as a neighborhood, as a community, as a city, and as one body in Christ.

We are Dependable.  We make a promise to support the needs of our community spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

We are Called to Serve. God calls every member of the Cristo Rey Dallas community to give of their time, treasure, and love through their daily actions and interactions. 

We are Gracious. In all aspects of life, we conduct ourselves with God’s grace in displaying a positive disposition. We walk the halls of Cristo Rey Dallas with confident smiles because we have a purpose. 

We are Committed to Growth. Like the Aspen tree our crest, Cristo Rey students, faculty, staff and families are committed to growing our roots deeper in faith and reaching new heights of learning.

In the coming weeks, our Kindness Tree “planted” in the Academic Building will bloom with an array of random acts of kindness and love at our school.

At this time when we might be drawn to focus on what separates us, we must be reminded of our need to love and be loved and to practice kindness and compassion in everything that we do.

Let us reflect on Paul the Apostle’s words in Ephesians: 

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians 4:32

Estimadas familias y estudiantes de CRD,

Esta semana los invito a todos a reflexionar sobre el significado de la bondad. Aunque la bondad se define como la cualidad de ser amable, generoso y considerado, realmente significa mucho más.

En CRD, la bondad también se modela  diario a través de nuestras creencias fundamentales.

Estamos unidos en la fe. Creemos que nuestros destinos están unidos como vecinos, como comunidad, como ciudad y como un solo cuerpo en Cristo.

Somos confiables. Prometemos apoyar las necesidades de nuestra comunidad espiritual, emocional y físicamente.

Estamos llamados a servir. Dios llama a cada miembro de la comunidad de Cristo Rey Dallas a dar de su tiempo, tesoro y amor a través de sus acciones e interacciones diarias.

Somos misericordiosos. En todos los aspectos de la vida, nos conducimos con la gracia de Dios al mostrar una disposición positiva. Caminamos por los pasillos de Cristo Rey Dallas con sonrisas seguras porque tenemos un propósito.

Estamos comprometidos con el crecimiento. Al igual que el árbol de Aspen, nuestra cresta, los estudiantes, la facultad, el personal y las familias de Cristo Rey están comprometidos a hacer crecer nuestras raíces más profundamente en la fe y alcanzar nuevas alturas de aprendizaje.

En las próximas semanas, nuestro árbol de bondad “plantado” en el edificio académico florecerá con una serie de actos de bondad y amor en nuestra escuela.

En este momento en el que podríamos sentirnos atraídos a enfocarnos en lo que nos separa, debemos recordar nuestra necesidad de amar y ser amados y de practicar la bondad y la compasión en todo lo que hacemos.

Reflexionemos sobre las palabras del apóstol Pablo en Efesios:

Sean bondadosos y compasivos unos con otros, perdonándose unos a otros, como Cristo Dios los perdonó a ustedes.
