Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep is a Catholic, college preparatory school for students from households of low to moderate income. Cristo Rey Dallas nurtures and challenges young women and men of all faiths to recognize and realize their full potential as they grow to love God, respect others, and serve their community. Each student participates in the Corporate Work Study Program which offers a weekly work study experience for all four years.
We are seeking a dedicated, intellectually curious and mission driven educator who is open to growth and want to be part of our community. Who YOU are:
You are a master of your content area, a lifelong learner, and someone who is passionate about working with students. As a member of the academic leadership team, the Director of Academic Support and Assessment reports to the Principal and will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all academic support and assessment-related activities of the school.
Anticipated Start Date:
- On or before July 1, 2022
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Academic Support Responsibilities
- Supervise members of the Academic Support Team
- With the Director of Student Services, oversee student progress monitoring (failure rates, intervention plans)
- With the Director of Student Services, oversee the Peer Tutoring Program to build student leadership
- In collaboration with the Director of Student Services, meet with families of students in need of support
- Oversee and support Grade Level Team Meetings (from student-support lens)
- Oversee and support Peer Tutoring, After-School Academy, and Saturday Academy.
Assessment Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning and administration of AP exams in the Spring, including but not limited to, ordering and mailing of exams, proctor, scheduling, hallway monitoring, and roster management
- Together with the principal, manage and implement the application process for AP courses
- Advise students on AP course selections
- Together with the registrar, co-lead the planning and administration of interim assessments and end-of-course assessments
- Plan and administer the PSAT/NMSQT to juniors in the fall and the PSAT 8/9 and PSAT 10 to freshmen and sophomores, respectively, in the spring
Academics and Other:
- Conduct Learning Walks with the Principal and provide ongoing feedback/coaching to faculty
- Work cooperatively with the Academics Department Administration to design faculty professional development
- Assist the Principal in the planning of school events of academic nature, including student awards, assemblies, and parent-teacher conferences
- Serve on the Admissions Committee to help build new classes of students
- Assist the Principal in hiring new faculty and staff
- Update course catalog
- With the Principal, plan extended year and summer school
- Performs special projects as assigned
- Other duties as assigned by the Principal
Qualifications and skills:
- Master’s Degree in Education and/or Educational Leadership
- A minimum of 5-8 years of teaching experience
- Strong written and communication skills; detail oriented; team player; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with PSAT/SAT and AP Test Administration
- Relentless focus on results and a high level of personal accountability
- Adept at building rapport and trust with people from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including underrepresented urban youth and first-generation college students.
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Cristo Rey Network and model.
- Understand and support the mission of Cristo Rey Dallas as a private, independent, Catholic school under the endorsement of the School Sisters of Notre Dame.
Compensation:
- Full-time, year-round position with competitive salary, benefits, and paid vacation.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Regularly interact with current and prospective students, parents, staff and visitors.
- Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
