Dear CRD Students and Parents,
Warm greetings to you and your families! This week I would like to remind our school community of the appropriate use of Personal Electronic Devices on campus (CRD Student Handbook, pages 47-48).
Personal Electronic Devices
- Cell phones and other personal electronic devices are only permitted in class with the stated permission of the teacher of that specific class.
- Otherwise, cell phones and other personal electronic devices should be always stored in the student’s backpack out of the view of the teacher. If a teacher requests that students cease using any electronic device, then the students must put the devices away and out of view.
- If the student refuses or fails to do so, then the teacher will inform a member of academic administration, and a student will lose the privilege of carrying a cell phone during school hours and must turn it in to reception at the start of each school day.
- At no point are cell phones or other electronic devices permitted while standardized testing is in progress. Failure to observe the rule regarding standardized tests and electronic devices will result in contact of parent/guardian and turning over of the test in accordance with official testing protocols state testing officials.
- Cristo Rey Dallas permits cell phones and other electronic devices in the public areas of the building, including hallways, bathrooms, cafeteria, gym, auditorium, or offices. Students, however, may not make phone calls during academic hours or enrichment hours. They may make calls at the conclusion of academic hours. Cristo Rey Dallas does not permit the use of cell phones or other electronic devices inside the chapel or at the workplace. Cristo Rey Dallas reserves the right to extend the area of prohibited cell phone and electronic device usage to any other section of its campus at its discretion. If a student is observed using any electronic devices in these designated areas without permission, s/he risks having that device confiscated by Cristo Rey Dallas.

¡Saludos cordiales para ustedes y sus familias! Esta semana me gustaría recordarle a nuestra comunidad escolar el uso apropiado de las redes sociales y los dispositivos electrónicos personales en el campus (Manual del estudiante de CRD, páginas 47-48).
Dispositivos electrónicos personales
- Los teléfonos celulares y otros dispositivos electrónicos personales solo se permiten en clase con el permiso declarado del maestro de esa clase específica.
- De lo contrario, los teléfonos celulares y otros dispositivos electrónicos personales deben guardarse en la mochila del estudiante fuera de la vista del maestro en todo momento. Si un maestro solicita que los estudiantes dejen de usar cualquier dispositivo electrónico, entonces los estudiantes deben guardar los dispositivos y fuera de la vista.
- Si el estudiante se niega o no lo hace, el maestro informará a un miembro de la administración académica y el estudiante perderá el privilegio de llevar un teléfono celular durante el horario escolar y deberá entregarlo en la recepción al comienzo de cada día escolar.

Congratulations to Elizabeth Bermejo, won 3rd place at the TAPPS Art State Championship Competition. The category is 5- abstract realism image: a real art form that is a marriage of two or three contradictory. Elizabeth also enjoys being part the Artisan Society Club. We are so proud of you!
Felicitaciones a Elizabeth Bermejo, ganó el 3er lugar en el Concurso del Campeonato Estatal de Arte TAPPS. La categoría es 5- Imagen de realismo abstracto: una forma de arte real que es un matrimonio de dos o tres contradictorios. Elizabeth también disfruta ser parte del Artisan Society Club. Estamos tan orgullosos de ti!
CRD hosted the first STEM Night on campus earlier this month. We had engineering volunteers and panelists from Oncor, Microsoft, Bell Helicopters, SMU, UNT, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers DFW and SMU chapter and even 2 CRD alumni who are currently studying engineering (Max and Jasmine). We hope to host another successful STEM Night next year.
CRD organizó la primera Noche de STEM en el campus a principios de este mes. Tuvimos ingenieros voluntarios y panelistas de Oncor, Microsoft, Bell Helicopters, SMU, UNT, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers DFW y SMU chapter e incluso 2 alumni de CRD que actualmente estudian ingeniería (Max y Jasmine). Esperamos organizar otra Noche STEM exitosa el próximo año.
Carla Juarez– 9th, Estrella Villareal– 12th and Alexander Mares– 10th were named cover art finalist in the Express Yourself Cover Art competition. The award ceremony will be on April 27th. First place will receive a $500 prize and will have their art piece printed and published through Thames and Hudson. Good luck to our CRD artists.

Dear Students & Parents,
As graduate students in Lipscomb University’s Doctor of Education program, we are conducting research for our Doctoral Dissertation. The focus of our research is the experiences and successes of educators and students at Cristo Rey Dallas with their Multi-Tiered System of Supports intervention program. We invite your student to participate in this research project by completing a short questionnaire.
The questionnaire will require approximately 15 minutes to complete. There is no compensation for responding and there are minimal risks to your participation. Data collected from the questionnaire will only be made available to the researchers and the course instructor. Participation is strictly voluntary and requires parent/guardian consent. If you choose to have your student participate, please agree to the linked consent form.

There were several standout performances during this week’s District Track and Field Meet. Diego Sanchez broke his own school record in the 800m; Cervando Perez, Axel Morales, Eduardo Velazquez, and Leo Cordova broke the school record in the 4x200m relay; Maria Belen Rodriguez broke the school record in the 3200m; and Raina Evans broke her own school record in the shot put, throwing 31′ 7.75″! Several other athletes had times in the top 5 of the school records. Raina’s throw was the best of the day and she won first place, moving onto the Regional Meet next week!
Hubo varias actuaciones destacadas durante la Reunión de Atletismo del Distrito de esta semana. Diego Sánchez rompió su propio récord escolar en los 800m; Cervando Pérez, Axel Morales, Eduardo Velázquez y Leo Córdova batieron el récord escolar en el relevo 4x200m; María Belén Rodríguez rompió el récord escolar en los 3200m; y Raina Evans rompió su propio récord escolar en lanzamiento de peso, ¡lanzando 31′ 7.75″! Varios otros atletas tuvieron tiempos entre los 5 primeros de los récords escolares. El lanzamiento de Raina fue el mejor del día y ganó el primer lugar, pasando al Reunión Regional la próxima semana!
