Dear CRD Students and Parents,
This week I would like to share recent updates to our CRD Student Handbook. We appreciate the feedback we continue to get and the partnership with the CRD community. Recent updates will be reflected in our Student Handbook for SY 2023-2024.
Jewelry
Cristo Rey Dallas does not permit excessive jewelry for female students. Jewelry must be conservatively styled and of an appropriate length. Cristo Rey Dallas allows earrings for female students. If a student pierces her ear cartilage, a stud(s) must be worn. Gauging of the ears is not allowed. No facial or tongue piercings are allowed. Nose rings are not permitted.
Please note that parents will be contacted if a student has been asked to remove a piercing and continues to use it on campus.
Make-up
Make-up must be in neutral colors and styles for female students. Excessive eye and lip makeup is not permitted. Perfume may only be worn in conservative quantities. Fingernails should be of moderate length to allow for work on computers. Parents will be contacted, and students will be asked to cut their nails (acrylic or natural) if the student is not able to perform the duties assigned at work or is unable to type efficiently and with minimal disruptions.
Nails
Female students are allowed to paint their nails as long as they are no longer than 18mm.
Facial Hair
Male students must be clean-shaven at all times. Parents will be contacted, and students will be asked to shave if they are not well groomed for work.
A fine will be assessed for repeated infractions to piercings, nail length, and/or facial hair.
CWSP staff reserves the right to keep a student from attending their job site if they are not dressed appropriately.
Cristo Rey Dallas reserves the right to determine what constitutes appropriate dress. The following is merely a set of general guidelines, as Cristo Rey Dallas determines at its discretion whether a student meets the dress code and appearance guidelines. Additionally, a CWSP job partner may require different uniforms or professional dress requirements. These will be communicated with the student worker when applicable.

Estimados estudiantes y padres de CRD,
Esta semana me gustaría compartir actualizaciones recientes de nuestro Manual del estudiante de CRD. Agradecemos los comentarios que seguimos recibiendo y la asociación con la comunidad de CRD. Joyas
Cristo Rey Dallas no permite joyas excesivas para las estudiantes. Las joyas deben tener un estilo conservador y una longitud adecuada. Cristo Rey Dallas permite aretes para estudiantes mujeres. El personal de CWSP se reserva el derecho de impedir que un estudiante asista a su lugar de trabajo si no está vestido apropiadamente.
Cristo Rey Dallas se reserva el derecho de determinar qué constituye vestimenta apropiada. Lo siguiente es simplemente un conjunto de pautas generales, ya que Cristo Rey Dallas determina a su discreción si un estudiante cumple con el código de vestimenta y las pautas de apariencia. Además, un compañero de trabajo de CWSP puede requerir diferentes uniformes o requisitos de vestimenta profesional. Estos serán comunicados al estudiante trabajador cuando corresponda.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Healthy Relationships Mural during Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week. Students were invited to write a quality of a healthy or unhealthy relationship and place it on the mural. Every heart equaled one entry into a raffle for fun prizes!
Gracias a todos los que participaron en el Mural de Relaciones Saludables durante la Semana de Concientización sobre la Violencia en el Noviazgo Adolescente. Alicia Serrato, president and founder of Primos in Dallas, has invited the CRD community to their second career fair. This career fair is for students of all ages and they will get the opportunity to ask questions and explore a variety of different careers. It will be on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 10 am – 1 pm at the Dallas College Pleasant Grove Center.
Alicia Serrato, presidenta y fundadora de Primos en Dallas, ha invitado a la comunidad de CRD a su segunda feria de empleo. Esta feria de carreras es para estudiantes de todas las edades y tendrán la oportunidad de hacer preguntas y explorar una variedad de carreras diferentes. Meet at 7724 Carbondale Street, Dallas, TX 75216Tucked away between the Houston & Texas Central Railway (now Union Pacific)’s Miller yard and the Trinity River, the historic community of Joppa—pronounced “Joppy” or “Joppee”—is one of a handful of Freedmen’s Towns remaining in Dallas, and is perhaps the most intact. Founded in 1872 by emancipated freedmen from the Miller plantation in Oak Cliff, the community is still home to many of its original families, as well as long-standing community institutions. White Rock YMCA Teen Action Council is currently accepting applications from students ages 12 to 18 who are interested in volunteering on the council that will serve over 3,000 other teens that currently have a membership through our branch. Students will plan events, community service events, and review programming and policy that impact teens in the YMCA. Application HERE
