Dear CRD Students and Families,
I hope that you and your family are having a blessed start to this new year.
This week I would like to provide you with an update on two key areas at CRD: Health and Safety and Student Achievement and Attendance.
Health and Safety
- This past Tuesday, January 18th we held a booster clinic and 30 students and staff received their booster shots. We are in the process of scheduling more clinics and will provide this information to you.

Student Achievement and Attendance
- We closed Semester 1 Exams with 52% of our students obtaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher! 74% of our students have a GPA of 2.5 or higher.
- Our overall attendance rate for Semester I was 97.67%. Our students are in school and engaged in their learning!
- The PSAT will take place on Thursday, January 27th, 2022
As we start this second semester I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns. There are multiple supports in place to assist with school work, such as teacher office hours, after-school tutoring, and Saturday Academy.
A reminder that we will not be conducting Summer School. It is important that your child receives a 70% or above for the year in all coursework in order to be promoted to the next year and to remain in good standing.
We look forward to celebrating our students’ successes and academic growth this semester at CRD.

Logro y Asistencia de los Estudiantes
- ¡Cerramos los exámenes del semestre 1 con el 52% de nuestros estudiantes obteniendo un GPA de 3.0 o superior! El 74% de nuestros estudiantes tienen un GPA de 2.5 o superior.
- Nuestra tasa de asistencia general para el primer semestre fue del 97,67 %. ¡Nuestros estudiantes están en la escuela y participan en su aprendizaje!

UWMD has partnered with AT&T and Comp-U-Dopt to launch our first device giveaway (of many in the coming weeks) to provide laptops to families in Southern Dallas. Families with a child in K-12 and opportunity youth ages 18-24 who don’t own a working computer at home (school-issued ones that students have to return do NOT count as “ownership”) can apply to be in the lottery.
Comp-U-Dopt will randomly select recipients and send them a text message to with access code to pick up their computer via drive-thru distribution. Each laptop comes with Microsoft Office Suite and 2 years of bilingual tech support—there’s a sticker on each laptop for families to reach out to for troubleshooting. We also have 1500 hotspots (with unlimited data until Dec 2022) ready to give out, so please encourage eligible families to register as those will run out quickly.

UWMD se asoció con AT&T y Comp-U-Dopt para lanzar el primer obsequio (de muchos en las próximas semanas) para proporcionar computadoras portátiles a familias en el sur de Dallas. Emma Romero has recently joined the Cristo Rey Dallas team as the new Receptionist and Family Partnership member. She is happily married, with two wonderful kids and a very hyperactive puppy who’s name is Marshall. She was born and raised here in Dallas and comes from working at Garner & Arnic, L.L.P. for eleven and a half years. Emma is happy to be here and looks forward to helping all staff/faculty, students and parents in everything she can.

Dignity of the Human Person
The Angel’s annunciation to Mary is a message filled with joy, comfort, and hope. The first words of the Angel Gabriel to Mary were, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” and then he goes on to say “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” It can be seen in the message of the Angel Gabriel, the hope that God offers to Mary and her children, especially the most vulnerable and despised, such as those babies in the womb of their mother, the poor, the sick, elderly, and the imprisoned. The hope of God is a virtue that consoles our souls and deepens our faith and interior life, helping us to turn our gaze towards God, even in difficult moments. The Angel Gabriel reminds us to “not be afraid” and to place our hopes, dreams, and achievements in the loving hands of God who will make us men and women of justice. Let us remember that human life is a loving gift from God that we must continuously protect from abortion, euthanasia, and the death penalty, until the last breath of our lives. For this reason, we must console and support expectant mothers, feed the poor, assist the elderly and suffering, and have mercy on the imprisoned, always remembering that with “God, nothing is impossible” because his mercy is love.
Dignidad de la Persona Humana

El Angel Gabriel nos recuerda que “no teman” y que deposites tus esperanzas, sueños, y logros en las manos amorosas de Dios quién hará de nosotros hombres y mujeres justos. Recordemos, que la vida humana es un regalo amoroso de Dios que debemos proteger continuamente de el aborto, la eutanasia, y la pena de muerte hasta el último suspiro y aliento de nuestra vida. Por esa razón, hay que consolar y apoyar a las madres en espera, dar de comer al pobre, asistir a los ancianos y sufrientes, y tener misericordia de los encarcelados, siempre recordando que con “Dios, nada es imposible” porque su misericordia es amor.
On February 1, 2022, re-enrollment for next year will open for all current families. We ask that all families (9th – 11th grade) complete re-enrollment no later than March 4, 2022. Re-enrollment takes about 5 minutes and will allow us to update student and family information as well as your agreement and payment plan for the next school year.
