Overview:

Cristo Rey Dallas College Prep is a Catholic, college preparatory school for students from households of low to moderate income. Cristo Rey Dallas nurtures and challenges young women and men of all faiths to recognize and realize their full potential as they grow to love God, respect others and serve their community. Each student participates in the Corporate Work Study Program which offers a weekly work study experience for all four years.

Who YOU are:
You are a master of your content area, a lifelong learner, and someone who is passionate about supporting and advocating for the mental health of students and their families.  As a member of the Mental Health Counseling Department, the Student and Family Counselor/Social Worker reports to the Director of Mental Health Counseling and will have primary day-to-day responsibility for providing clinical counseling services to students, promoting positive mental health awareness on campus, and collaborating with community partners to meet the mental health needs of the student body.

Purpose: 

As part of the Mental Health Counseling Department, the Student and Family Counselor/Social Worker will assist in implementing and furthering the mission of the department and adhering to the mental health needs of its students. This position performs a variety of tasks as it relates to clinical need, mental health crisis response, clinical documentation, campus wide initiatives and community outreach. The successful candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish.

 

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Assists the Mental Health Counseling Department in day-to-day tasks, including administrative tasks and initiatives that support the mental health of students and families
  • Provide direct clinical services including individual counseling, group counseling, crisis response and intervention, family meetings, family therapy as requested, etc.
  • Maintain clinical documentation of services via case notes
  • Participate in professional development as it pertains to licensure
  • Participate in departmental meetings and clinical consultations
  • Oversee and support the implementation of prevention and awareness initiatives that promote mental health at CRD
  • Oversee and support the Social-Emotional Health (SEH) programming for incoming freshmen
  • Oversee and support the implementation of Hope Squad
  • Collaborate with the counseling team and other departments to implement mental health education and team building for faculty and staff through workshops and trainings
  • Establish relationships with community agencies as it benefits the school clinically or our families directly

 

Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree social work, counseling or related field
  • Licensed in the state of Texas as a LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or related licensure
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Strong written and communication skills; detail oriented; team player; ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
  • Relentless focus on results and a high level of personal accountability.
  • Adept at building rapport and trust with people from diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including underrepresented urban youth and first-generation college students.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the Cristo Rey Network and model.
  • Understand and support the mission of Cristo Rey Dallas as a private, independent, Catholic school under the endorsement of the School Sisters of Notre Dame.

 

Compensation:

  • Full-time, year-round position with competitive salary, benefits, and paid vacation.

 

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Regularly interact with students, parents, staff and visitors.
  • Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
