Dear Students and Families,
We have had a great first week at CRD and we are looking forward to a wonderful school year filled with many academic successes!
Below are some important updates and reminders for you to consider as we start the school year:
- At our Back to School Parent Meetings we informed you of the increased costs to educate our CRD students.
The total cost to educate a Cristo Rey Student is around $18,000 a year with close to 65% of that covered by CWSP. Our family contribution toward tuition is between $500 – $3,000/year, on a sliding scale, based on annual household income and size. We need your continued support to close the gap. This year you will see a $30.00 a month additional fee assessed to your account to help offset the increase in programming costs. Thank you for the partnership.
- Cell Phone Policy: CRD is a Cell Phone Free Zone. Students have done a great job this week of leaving these devices at home or keeping them in their backpack OFF during the school day. Thank you.
- We have noticed a number of male students who have come back to school with facial hair. Please make sure that your male student is clean shaven at all times.
- We have also noticed a number of female students with very bright hair colors and highlights. We want to clarify the language in our Student Handbook around hair color. Hair Color should be in alignment with a student’s natural hair color. Students will be asked to tone down these hair colors to a more acceptable color. Ms. Aguirre, Director of CWSP, and I are available to clarify any questions.
- Meet the Teacher is on Wednesday, August 27th from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please come and meet your student’s teacher and learn about this year’s curriculum.
- Labor Day is on Monday, September 1st. There is NO SCHOOL or WORK.
- Our first Parent Rosary of the year is scheduled for Friday, September 5th at 8:30 a.m. followed by Coffee with the Principal.

¡Tuvimos una excelente primera semana en CRD y esperamos un maravilloso año escolar lleno de éxitos académicos!
A continuación, les presentamos algunas actualizaciones importantes y recordatorios para que los tengan en cuenta al comenzar el año escolar:
- En nuestras reuniones de padres de regreso a clases, les informamos sobre el aumento en los costos de educación de nuestros estudiantes de CRD. - También hemos notado que varias alumnas tienen los colores de cabello muy brillantes y mechas. Queremos aclarar el lenguaje de nuestro Manual del Estudiante sobre el color del cabello. El color del cabello debe ser acorde con el color natural del estudiante. Se les pedirá a los estudiantes que reduzcan el tono de estos colores a un color más aceptable. La Srta. Aguirre, Directora de CWSP, y yo estamos disponibles para aclarar cualquier duda.
- La reunión con el Profesor (Meet the Teacher) es el miércoles 27 de agosto de 4:30 p. m. a 7:00 pm. Venga a conocer al maestro de su hijo/a y a aprender sobre el currículo de este año.
- El Día del Trabajo es el lunes 1 de septiembre. No hay clases ni trabajo.
- Nuestro primer Rosario para Padres del año está programado para el viernes 5 de septiembre a las 8:30 a.m., seguido de un Café con la Directora.

All CRD students officially began their new job placements to launch the 2025-2026 work year. Thank you to our Job Partners, staff, faculty and volunteers who supported and chaperoned during Presentation Day. We look forward to a year of growth, learning, and opportunity for our student workers, and know they will be guided by outstanding supervisors and mentors along the way.
Todos los estudiantes de CRD comenzaron oficialmente sus trabajos para dar inicio al año laboral 2025-2026. Agradecemos a nuestros colaboradores, personal, y voluntarios que nos apoyaron y acompañaron durante el Día de Presentación. Esperamos un año de crecimiento, aprendizaje y oportunidades para nuestros estudiantes trabajadores, y sabemos que contarán con la guía de excelentes supervisores y mentores a lo largo del camino.

CRD’s newest students met their job partners during the annual Draft Day event where they learned which organization they’d be working with for the year. The celebration featured high-energy performances from the Mavs ManiAACs and the CRD cheerleaders, all guided by our lively emcee, Ms. Aguirre, alongside the dynamic commentator duo, Mr. Turner and Mrs. Wojcik. Thank you to all the Job Partners, families and entire CRD community for joining us.
Los estudiantes nuevos de CRD conocieron a sus compañeros de trabajo durante el evento anual de Draft Day, donde descubrieron con qué organización trabajarían durante el año. La celebración contó con actuaciones vibrantes de los Mavs ManiAACs y las porristas de CRD, todas guiadas por , la Sra. Aguirre, junto con el dinámico dúo de comentaristas, el Sr. Turner y la Sra. Wojcik. Gracias a todos los compañeros de trabajo, familias y a toda la comunidad de CRD por acompañarnos.
Two of our students represented CRD at the Student Union for Mission Alignment Conference in New England this summer.
Guided by this year’s theme – Believe, Achieve, & Succeed – student leaders across the Cristo Rey Network reflected on the values that define our Catholic identity.
Over the course of three days, Athziry and Nicolo, braved a historic heatwave, participated in workshops, prayer, and community-building fun. They explored faith and leadership, shared stories of service and identity, and built lasting connections with peers from across the country.
Dos de nuestros estudiantes representaron a CRD en la Conferencia de la Unión Estudiantil para la Alineación de la Misión en Nueva Inglaterra este verano.
Guiados por el tema de este año —Creer, Lograr y Triunfar—, los líderes estudiantiles de la Red Cristo Rey reflexionaron sobre los valores que definen nuestra identidad Católica.
Durante tres días, Athziry y Nicolo desafiaron una ola de calor histórica, participaron en talleres, oraciones y actividades de desarrollo comunitario. Exploraron la fe y el liderazgo, compartieron historias de servicio e identidad, y forjaron vínculos duraderos con compañeros de todo el país.
Four CRD students and two faculty members joined the Academy of Holy Angels (NJ) and Notre Dame HS (St. Louis, MO) and 3 School Sisters of Notre Dame (SSND) to provide a week of service at Whole Kids Outreach (WKO) June 15-21 2025 in Ellington, Missouri.
WKO is a ministry of the SSNDs and all three high schools are affiliated with the SSNDs. During the week CRD volunteers assisted in accompanying children as they participated in camp activities: horseback riding, art, swimming, Self-Esteem/Courage class and a host of other activities. Students also worked one day offsite, assisting with families who needed intense yard cleanup.
Each day began with communal prayer and ended with a reflection on the day. Schools took turns preparing meals (CRD made chicken tinga which was a big hit) for the group of 23 and leading morning prayer.
Following the week of service, CRD travelers went to St. Louis to see the Gateway Arch and the SSND Motherhouse – on their return they also stopped at the Stanley Rother Shrine in Oklahoma City.
Cuatro estudiantes de CRD y dos maestras se unieron a la Academia de los Santos Ángeles (NJ), la Preparatoria Notre Dame (St. Louis, MO) y tres Hermanas Escolares de Notre Dame (SSND) para ofrecer una semana de servicio en Whole Kids Outreach (WKO) del 15 al 21 de junio de 2025 en Ellington, Missouri.
WKO es un ministerio de las SSND y las tres preparatorias están afiliadas a ellas. Durante la semana, voluntarios de CRD ayudaron a acompañar a los niños en sus actividades del campamento: equitación, arte, natación, clase de Autoestima y Coraje, entre otras. Los estudiantes también trabajaron un día fuera de la escuela, ayudando a familias que necesitaban una limpieza exhaustiva de sus jardines.
Cada día comenzaba con una oración comunitaria y terminaba con una reflexión sobre el día. Las escuelas se turnaban para preparar las comidas (CRD preparó tinga de pollo, que fue todo un éxito) para el grupo de 23 personas y dirigir la oración matutina.
Después de la semana de servicio, los viajeros del CRD fueron a San Luis para ver el Arco Gateway y la Casa Madre SSND; a su regreso, también se detuvieron en el Santuario Stanley Rother en Oklahoma City.
We are thrilled to celebrate our exceptional teacher and beloved community member, Emily Lazor, on being named one of the 2025 recipients of the Michael Pressley Award for Excellence in Catholic Education.
Mrs. Lazor has helped shape Cristo Rey Dallas into the vibrant, mission-driven community it is today. Her support for our students and families extends far beyond the classroom, building meaningful and lasting relationships that reflect her deep commitment to our mission.
Her passion and purpose have been clear from the moment she stepped onto campus. She was honored as one of our Teacher of the Year recipients – a reflection of the light and leadership she brings to our campus each day. Her belief in our students, her thoughtful guidance, and her tireless dedication are an inspiration to all of us.
This recognition is so well deserved – congratulations, Mrs. Lazor!
